Goals & Objectives
Goals
- To diagnosis and treat various types of facial and head pain associated with somatic dysfunction of the cranium by using explicate advanced Cranial Osteopathic manual procedures.
- To accurately diagnosis the Primary Respiratory Mechanism (PRM), thereby identifying the specific boney, membranous, fluid, and energetic restrictions to vitality and health.
- To develop an efficient and explicate Cranial Osteopathic treatment plan using the appropriate level of the identified somatic dysfunction and successfully carry it out.
Objectives
The Osteopath will be able to demonstrate knowledge, skill, and ability to:
- Diagnosis and successfully treat somatic dysfunction of the craniosacral mechanism at four out of the five levels of potential dysfunction; bone, membrane, dense brain tissue, fluid, and Qi/Energy.
- Diagnosis each boney/sutural restriction of the 22 bones of the head.
- Diagnosis all membranous restrictions of the head and sacrum.
- Diagnosis two out of the three following items associated with somatic dysfunction: dense brain tissue, fluid, or Qi/Energy.
- Develop an ideal treatment plan for the patient based upon the specific location of the restriction, the level of restriction and the best activating force for this condition and the patient’s state.
- Treat all boney, membranous, and fluid restrictions found in their lab partner’s cranium with various and appropriate activating forces taught in class.

Developing the most efficacious Ideal Treatment Plan
- Diagnosis is complete
- Where is the problem located?
- Where is the restriction at, Level? In the bone, membrane, dense brain tissue, fluid, and Qi/Energy?
- What can the patient tolerate? Indications and Contraindications-Red Flags for Cranial OMT
- What do you know, i.e., knowledge, skill, experience?
- What should be treated first: which location, treatment method and activating force?
- Execute the plan
- Re-evaluate
