Many patients arrive at the osteopath with chronic and complex clinical situations that represent real challenges. In these cases, there is usually no single cause for the problem, but rather a sum of the stress factors to which the patient is exposed (allostatic load).
Therefore the osteopathic approach aims to support physiological processes, reducing the allostatic load, and increasing the individual's ability to respond and adapt to various internal and external stress factors. To achieve these results, we use the biomechanical, postural, neurological, respiratory, and circulatory models as treatment forms. The aim is to improve the distribution of forces through the continuity of connective tissue, reduce energy expenditure during daily life activities, improve breathing and circulatory dynamics, enhance the functional integration of the somatomotor and the neuroimmunoendocrine system.
The course will deal with the principles of evaluation and treatment according to the so-called maximalist approach. We will work on the patient through biomechanical, fascial, venous, lymphatic, respiratory, and nervous systems. These systems will be linked to the four diaphragmatic regions in an integrated way. This approach can suit a wide range of patients. That is why the course involves many practical sessions to cover Still techniques, exaggeration of dysfunction, articulatory techniques, facilitated position release techniques, HVLA techniques, fascial techniques, and soft tissue techniques.
Also, we will see how to use these techniques in an integrated treatment sequence. The theoretical part will describe this approach's principles with the anatomical and physiological rationale for the different types of patients. The course aims to enable students to apply what they have learned immediately. The teaching material includes the course's subjects and the articles that support the discussed topics.
