Gianluca graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Milan. He is a specialist in Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy, and Rehabilitation at the University of Milan. He worked as the head of the Isokinetics section at the Sports Traumatology Centre at the Istituto Ortopedico G. Pini in Milan from 1990 to 2000. Also, he performed as a physiatrist at the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, head of Physiokinesitherapy, and head of the Sports Rehabilitation Outpatient Clinic. Dr. Melegati increased his professional experience working with professor Freddie H. He obtained various internships at the Center for Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation" at the University of Pittsburgh. He is currently head of the Sports Rehabilitation Centre and head of the Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy Section of the Istituto Ortopedico Galeazzi in Milan. He was a lecturer in Applied Kinesiology at the Istituto Superiore di Educazione Fisica della Lombardia (ISEF) from 1988 to 1995, and lecturer at the Terapisti della Riabilitazione school and the Massofisioterapisti school of the Istituto G. Pini from 1990 to 1997.
